A little setup. Then a clear next step.
You will need a D/R account and access to a ChatGPT connection that supports D/R. The custom-server setup below is for ChatGPT on the web; access depends on your ChatGPT plan and workspace permissions.
If your workspace already provides the D/R connection, select it in ChatGPT and continue to make a plan. Otherwise, an eligible workspace owner, admin, or authorized developer can use the custom connection steps below.
Sending a plan creates a pending draft. It does not activate habits, goals, or milestones. You review and approve the plan inside D/R.
01 / Connect
Add the D/R connection.
In ChatGPT on the web, open Plugins. Use the plus button and choose Add custom MCP server. Name it Discipline Rewards and enter this server address:
https://app.disciplinerewards.com/mcpChoose OAuth authentication, review the connection notice, and create the plugin. Follow the sign-in prompt to link your D/R account and review the permissions before continuing.
Some workspaces still show the earlier Apps → Create flow. Use the same server address and OAuth option there. If you cannot add a custom connection, check with your workspace admin or read OpenAI’s current connection instructions. ChatGPT’s menus and availability can change.
You do not need to paste a D/R password or API key into the conversation. Complete sign-in and consent through D/R’s account-linking screen.
02 / Plan
Start with something that fits your life.
Start a new conversation and select the D/R connection. Tell ChatGPT what you want to accomplish, how much time you have, and the constraints it should respect. A useful starting prompt:
Help me build a realistic four-week reading routine. I have 15 minutes on weekday evenings. Keep the commitments small, show me the proposed plan first, and wait for my confirmation before sending a draft to D/R.
Review the proposed habits, schedule, and milestones in the conversation. Ask for changes until the plan makes sense for you.
03 / Review
Send a draft. Make the final choice in D/R.
When you are happy with the proposal, tell ChatGPT to send it to D/R. The connection creates a pending plan and returns a Review Plan link.
Open that link, sign in to D/R if needed, and review the commitments and schedule. Adjust what is available in the review screen, then approve only the plan you are ready to follow. Check the review for any Starter or Pro allowance that applies before approving.
After approval, use D/R to record what happened and return to your commitments. The planning walkthrough includes screenshots and a video of the draft-to-review flow.
What this connection does.
- Provides D/R’s plan format and public example plans.
- Links a D/R account so a new plan can arrive as a pending draft.
- Returns a link for review and approval inside D/R.
This setup covers new-plan drafts. It does not automatically complete habits, approve imports, or change existing commitments. Review the consent screen for the permissions requested by the connection you are adding.

If something gets in the way.
- I cannot see the connection option.
- Check your ChatGPT account and workspace permissions. An admin may need to create or enable the connection. You can still use the D/R Plan Library without connecting ChatGPT.
- The connection asks me to sign in again.
- Reconnect through ChatGPT and complete D/R sign-in again. Use the D/R account where you want the pending plan to appear.
- ChatGPT gave me a plan, but no Review Plan link.
- Check that the D/R connection is selected and that you confirmed sending the draft. Text in a conversation alone does not create a D/R plan. If sending fails, resolve the error before trying again; check for an existing draft before creating a duplicate.
- I need help with a draft or account.
- Contact D/R support with the error message and the step where it happened. Do not send passwords or access tokens.
